Luísa Pinho Sartori

Luísa Pinho Sartori, Biology student at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, died prematurely on November 2009 at the age of 20. During her short life, Luísa dedicated herself  in body and soul to the Environmental and Animal Protection causes.

She has also joined organizations for helping people, like Doctors Without Borders and charitable institutions for the wellbeing of poor infants and elders.

While attending the graduation course on Ecology, for which she was admitted in 2007, she dedicated herself not only to studying  but also to extra-classroom activities, having excelled among her classmates of the Academic Center in the promotion of social and sport events.

On the Fall semester of 2009, recommended by her professors of the Ecology Department, she was accepted at Duke University, United States, as member of the Undergraduate Visiting International Student Program. There, in the same way as at UFRJ, she participated actively of the student’s cultural, sport and social activities.

She was an intern at the Duke Lemur Center, where she combined the love for animals with the opportunity for studying and practicing the acquired knowledge.
